Lukanga Dispensary - Mkuranga District

In April 2015, BON VOYAGE donated a Solar Powered Water Well in the remote village of Lukanga, located in Mkuranga District in the Coastal Region. In addition to providing clean water to the Dispensary – the local Primary School and the entire village community will benefit from this valuable project.  Five other villages (with total population of over 36,000) use the Dispensary as their only means of receiving health care.  Therefore, the water well project is not only beneficial but critical to the wellbeing of the Lukanga village and surrounding communities.

Before the construction of the Water Well, the Dispensary’s only source of water was an unclean swamp 5KMs away. The new Water Well has enabled the Dispensary to provide clean and hygienic health services to the Lukanga village and surrounding communities.  Access to clean water also means reduction in water borne diseases for these communities.

The new Solar Powered Water Well has become a life-line the village and surrounding communities.
